The Minnesota Vikings have reached an agreement to acquire wide receiver Adam Thielen from the Carolina Panthers. The trade will send a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft to the Panthers. In return, the Vikings will receive Thielen, a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and a fifth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. The completion of this transaction is subject to Thielen passing a physical.
Thielen, who was originally signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent after the 2013 NFL Draft out of Minnesota State, returns for his second stint with the organization. During his previous tenure with the Vikings from 2013 through 2022, he earned two Pro Bowl selections in consecutive seasons (2017-18). He ranks third all-time for the franchise in both receptions (534) and receiving touchdowns (55), and fifth all-time in receiving yards (6,682).
After spending two seasons with Carolina from 2023 through 2024—starting all 27 games he played—Thielen made 151 receptions for 1,629 yards and nine touchdowns. He led the Panthers last year with 103 catches and 1,014 yards along with four touchdowns. These marks were second only to his career-best season of 113 receptions achieved during his time with Minnesota in 2018.
As he enters his thirteenth NFL season at age thirty-five, Thielen has appeared in one hundred sixty-two games with one hundred twenty-eight starts across his career. His totals include six hundred eighty-five receptions for eight thousand three hundred eleven yards and sixty-four touchdowns. In postseason play, he has participated in six games (four starts), collecting twenty-four catches for three hundred thirty-one yards.
In league-wide terms since records began tracking undrafted players’ performance in 1967, Thielen’s twenty-six career games of at least one hundred receiving yards rank third among undrafted players. He also sits third all-time among undrafted players for total touchdowns (sixty-four) and joins Antonio Gates, Rod Smith and Wes Welker as one of four such players to surpass eight thousand career receiving yards since that same year.
A native of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Thielen attended Minnesota State before beginning his professional career.
