Vikings face Bears in Monday Night Football opener with Troy Aikman on call

“Monday Night Football” will feature a matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears in Week 1 of the NFC North, airing live from Soldier Field. The game will mark the first start for J.J. McCarthy, the Vikings’ 2024 No. 10 draft pick, and Ben Johnson’s debut as Chicago’s head coach.

Joe Buck, Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters, and Laura Rutledge are set to provide commentary during ESPN’s broadcast of the event.

Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 8. The game will be televised on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes. “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli,” known as the “ManningCast,” will air simultaneously on ESPN2. Pregame coverage includes “NFL Live” at 3 p.m. ET followed by “Monday Night Countdown” at 6 p.m., both broadcasting live from Soldier Field.

This season introduces Saweetie as the first female music curator for “Monday Night Football.” She will select tracks featured throughout broadcasts and promotional spots during the 2025 NFL season. Saweetie follows previous curators including J Balvin (2024), Timbaland and Justin Timberlake (2023), Marshmello (2022), Drake (2021), DJ Khaled (2020), and Diplo (2019).
