The Minnesota Vikings have a storied history of exceptional pass rushers, with many players leaving a significant mark on the franchise. As part of their Quarter Century Team selection, the team is highlighting standout edge players who have contributed to their success over the years.
Jared Allen, who played for the Vikings from 2008 to 2013, is one of the prominent names under consideration. After joining as a free agent from the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen quickly became a key player for Minnesota. During his six seasons with the team, he recorded 85.5 sacks, ranking seventh in franchise history. His achievements include being named First-Team All-Pro four times and earning five Pro Bowl selections.
Allen’s most notable season was in 2011 when he achieved 22 sacks and nearly broke the NFL single-season sack record. In addition to his sacks, he accumulated 104 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and 11 forced fumbles during his tenure with the Vikings. His contributions earned him a place in the Vikings Ring of Honor and recognition as one of the “50 Great Vikings of All Time.”
In 2025, Jared Allen was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility.
