Troy Aikman, a Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, commented on the ongoing contract discussions between the Dallas Cowboys and defensive standout Micah Parsons. Aikman expressed concern about the potential long-term impact these negotiations could have on the relationship between Parsons and team management.
In an interview with Michael Irvin, Aikman said, “We all know it’s a business. We all know that there’s a negotiation that takes place and there’s typically frustration and a lot of animosity that occurs when you’re in a negotiation and you’re not quite getting what you feel that you’re worth. It happens from both sides. Then once you sign, I think a lot of those bad feelings go away and you realize, ah, that was just all part of the process and getting to this point. (…) My hope is that they haven’t they haven’t gotten to a point that’s irreparable. I can’t imagine Micah not being with the Cowboys. You just don’t let those type players leave your building.”
Aikman’s comments come amid reports of tension during training camp, including criticism directed at Parsons through media channels and remarks made by team owner Jerry Jones. Parsons has remained publicly silent about his contract status.
The situation is developing as speculation continues about whether Parsons will reach an agreement with the team before the start of the season.
