The Texas Longhorns are preparing for the upcoming 2025 college football season with quarterback Arch Manning set to take on a key role. The first game of the season will be against Ohio State, the current national champions.
Manning addressed the challenge ahead, saying earlier this week, “We’re full on to Ohio State now (…) So, I’m thinking about them a lot. They’re a really good team – [safety] Caleb Downs, [linebacker] Sonny Styles – they’ve got some good players. So we’re gonna have our hands full, but it’s gonna be a fun one.”
This matchup will also mark Manning’s first road start in his college career. He spoke about his approach and mindset heading into the game: “I think for me, I feel like I’m playing best when I’m having fun. So, I just remind myself to have fun. We do all the preparation throughout the week and throughout this summer. So, once you get out there, just cut it loose and have some fun.”
Texas has received attention in various media outlets as it prepares for the new season. ESPN lists Manning as a top pick in its 2026 mock draft. Other reports mention that Texas wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon is earning Manning’s trust and discuss defensive preparations for facing teams such as Ohio State.
In addition to football coverage, recent updates include Texas softball hiring a new assistant coach and recruiting news focused on future prospects for Longhorn athletics.
The start of this season signals not only another chapter in college football but also continues the legacy of quarterbacks from the Manning family.
