Texas A&M University’s starting quarterback, Marcel Reed, has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list. The award recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.

Reed, a redshirt sophomore, led Texas A&M’s quarterback group after last season’s transfer of Conner Weigman to Houston. In the previous season, Reed recorded 1,864 passing yards and 15 touchdowns in addition to 547 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground. During this offseason, he focused on improving his passing skills, specifically release time and deep ball accuracy.

The Aggies have also added wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver through the transfer portal. Both are expected to help address separation issues in the team’s receiving corps. Reports indicate Reed has developed good rapport with these new targets during preseason play.

Texas A&M is ranked No. 19 in preseason polls and will start its 2025 season against UTSA on Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m., with coverage scheduled for ESPN.
