On the recent broadcast of “FOX NFL Sunday,” former New York Giants player and Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Michael Strahan praised Aaron Rodgers ahead of Rodgers’s debut as quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. As Strahan discussed Rodgers’s potential impact, fellow Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw was seen looking away, a moment that attracted attention on social media.
Strahan expressed optimism about Rodgers’s addition to the team. “I do think there’s some magic left in Aaron Rodgers. Tom Brady, who is the GOAT, called Aaron Rodgers the greatest passer the league has ever seen. (…) They bring in DK Metcalf, they have a defense, this team has never had a losing season under Mike Tomlin… I do think that Aaron Rodgers can make a difference,” said Strahan.
Bradshaw’s reaction followed earlier comments he made regarding rumors about Rodgers joining the Steelers. He previously described interest in signing Rodgers as “a joke,” suggesting instead that Rodgers should stay in California rather than play for Pittsburgh.
Rodgers responded to Bradshaw’s comments with respect during NFL Network’s Back Together Weekend coverage. “Terry’s a legend. He’s an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He’s had a legendary career in the media (…) But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn’t know me. So, he’s got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I’ve done, the documentary, what I’ve said, darkness retreat, whatever the hell you want to talk about,” said Rodgers.
After being released by the New York Jets following the 2024 season, Rodgers signed with Pittsburgh and led an efficient first quarter in his debut game against his former team. In limited action during the first quarter, he completed five out of seven passes for 93 yards and one touchdown without any interceptions and finished with a passer rating of 153.3.
The opening drive included contributions from Kenny Gainwell and completions to Jonnu Smith and DK Metcalf before concluding with a short touchdown pass from Rodgers to Ben Skowronek.
Rodgers’s performance suggested he remains effective as Pittsburgh’s new starting quarterback as they look ahead to their season under coach Mike Tomlin.
