Terrell Owens, a Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee, is set to participate in MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3 alongside former Philadelphia Phillies player Jimmy Rollins and AUSL star Tiare Jennings on July 12 at Citizens Bank Park.
Owens will be part of the event, which is described as a modified co-ed home run derby awarding points for both offensive and defensive plays. DeVonta Smith will also take part in the game, bringing together well-known athletes from different sports backgrounds.
“I’ve always loved competition, no matter the sport,” Terrell Owens said. “Baseball was my first love growing up, so getting the opportunity to share the field with Jimmy Rollins and be part of MLBx is something I’m really excited about. Expect us to put on a show.”
In this version of MLBx, teams earn points for making defensive catches and hitting home runs. Extra points are awarded if players hit balls through a designated center-field target or successfully complete a ‘hot streak’—a sequence where both offensive and defensive points count double over five balls. The team that finishes with the most points wins.
