Broncos great Terrell Davis has expressed optimism about the future of the Denver Broncos, citing their recent playoff appearance and improvements within the organization. Davis, who is a Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee, discussed his outlook for the team in an interview.

Davis stated, “We beat Kansas City last year (… ) albeit it was the last game of the season, they rested their starters. I think you just have to prove to yourself you can beat them in regular season games. Remember the first time they played, they just lost by a blocked field goal. They’ve been nipping on the heels of the Chiefs, and I think this is the year where they beat them without resting players, and then they kind of take over.”

He acknowledged that competition remains strong in the division with teams like the Los Angeles Chargers and Pete Carroll-led Las Vegas Raiders. However, Davis maintained that Denver is well-positioned for success: “The Chargers are going to be there, the Raiders they’ll be a nuisance (… ) There’s still just no doubt in my mind that this team has the right makeup, chemistry, coaching, ownership, GM. You talk about continuity, they didn’t lose their coordinators.”

Continuity appears central to Davis’s confidence regarding Denver’s direction. He added: “They’re just consistent with everything (… ) They return their whole offense, the quarterback, receivers. That’s part of what I look at from teams — is the continuity there? Are you being consistent? I’m seeing that here, and so that gives me a lot of reason to be optimistic about this team.”

Despite recognizing challenges from other top teams—citing losses to playoff squads such as Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens—Davis focused on recent roster changes aimed at strengthening Denver’s run game. He said: “The offense wasn’t too bad, they were middle of the pack with rushing, a little bit of that was Bo as well (… ) Obviously that’s an area that I say they can improve to give this team — I’ve always said that dangerous teams have a right and left punch — and Denver didn’t have that last year. They had a good pass game but they couldn’t run the football.”

Reflecting on his own achievements with Denver’s ground attack during his playing career—including leading them to back-to-back Super Bowl victories—Davis explained why improvement in rushing could help push Denver further: “Not that this is going to be — like back in my day — where we were running the ball 40 times a game (… ) But there’s going to be games where you need to lean on the run, and it’s better to have it than not. That’s the part where they can improve. They’ve already proven they can come back and win games. They’ve already proven they can put points on the board.”

Looking ahead at expectations for 2025 under coach Sean Payton with quarterback Bo Nix leading an experienced lineup bolstered by acquisitions such as tight end Evan Engram and new running backs J.K. Dobbins and R.J. Harvey from this year’s draft class—Davis predicted significant progress.

“The confidence level they’ve got that (… ) They’ve got swag now; they have belief they could be good,” Davis remarked about current prospects for Denver after key offseason moves.

“They kept everything home,” he continued regarding player re-signings.(…) “I don’t see a whole lot of things that I’m questioning right now. That’s what makes me excited.”

Davis went so far as to predict possible twelve or thirteen-win campaign for Denver along with potential for deep postseason advancement.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee concluded his remarks noting optimism over consistency throughout Denver’s coaching staff and roster heading into another NFL season.
