Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green has been named to the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, adding another recognition to his growing list of preseason honors. The announcement was made by the Tyler Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler.
Green, a senior who played high school football at Lewisville High School in Texas, is also on the watch lists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Manning Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and Maxwell Award.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is presented each year to the top offensive player in Division I football who demonstrates characteristics associated with Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community involvement and tenacity. Nominees must have played football at and graduated from a Texas high school or currently play at a Texas Division I college.
During the 2024 season—his first with Arkansas—Green recorded 3,756 yards of total offense (602 rushing and 3,154 passing). This mark is second in single-season yardage in school history behind Ryan Mallet’s 2010 total of 3,795 yards.
Last year with Green leading at quarterback, Arkansas ranked No. 13 nationally in total offense (288.9 yards per game). He finished No. 14 nationally in yards per completion (13.71) and No. 21 in total passing yards.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Green stands out as one of only two returning quarterbacks nationwide who surpassed both 3,000 passing yards and 600 rushing yards during the previous season; Oklahoma’s John Mateer is the other. Green is also one of ten current Football Bowl Subdivision quarterbacks who have accumulated more than 4,000 passing and over 1,000 rushing career yards. His combined career yardage sits at third nationally with a total of 8,576.
Arkansas will open its season against Alabama A&M on August 30 at 3:15 p.m., with coverage on SEC Network.
The ESPN college football recruiting class rankings recently listed Arkansas at No. 33 nationally for the class of 2026. According to ESPN: “Hot seat talk surrounding head coach Sam Pittman seemed to cool entering the offseason, which will benefit recruiting and help aid a 2026 class that has a solid foundation to build on.”
Auburn University has announced that it now recognizes nine national championships after reassessing its historical records beyond just those from its known title seasons in 1957 and 2010.
No games were played yesterday or scheduled for today as teams continue their final preparations for kickoff next week.
