NFL media personality Skip Bayless commented on the ongoing dispute between Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons and team owner Jerry Jones. Bayless stated that Parsons would be making a mistake if he does not listen to recent advice from Jones regarding contract negotiations.
The situation has drawn significant attention, as Parsons’ unresolved contract issues with the Dallas Cowboys could impact the team’s upcoming 2025 season under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. The public disagreement between Parsons and Jones has continued to attract coverage, reinforcing the high-profile nature of the Cowboys franchise.
Recently, Jones alleged that Parsons’ agent rebuffed communication efforts during negotiations. In response, Bayless publicly advised Parsons to approach discussions differently by engaging directly with Jones alongside Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Michael Irvin.
Bayless wrote on social media, “Micah Parsons is a fool if he doesn’t do exactly what Jerry Jones told Michael Irvin that Micah should do. Go with Michael to sit with Jerry and finish off the deal. Micah can go in prepped by his agent, then the agent can hammer out the fine print. JERRY WILL OVERPAY LIKE CRAZY.” He added that Irvin’s involvement could help bridge gaps in negotiations: “Micah can go in prepped by his agent, then the agent can hammer out the fine print. JERRY WILL OVERPAY LIKE CRAZY.”
Jones reportedly suggested this approach to Irvin on an episode of Irvin’s podcast: “Michael, why don’t you grab Micah and come over here with him, and come with me and sit down here with him. (…) Bridge this gap, and sit there and go do it? Why don’t you do that? His agent shouldn’t be involved with paperwork and all that kind of stuff.” According to reports, Jones believes handling details without agents could help resolve outstanding issues.
Meanwhile, Hall of Famer Troy Aikman has said publicly that he believes Parsons holds leverage in these discussions.
Amid ongoing tensions, Parsons recently removed all references to the Dallas Cowboys from his social media accounts following comments made by Jones about his representation. As interest from other NFL teams like the Green Bay Packers grows—reported by Ian Rapoport—Jones remains firm in stating he will not trade Parsons.
There is speculation about whether Parsons might ultimately remain on a franchise tag or miss games if no resolution is reached before or during the season.
