The Southmoreland Scotties secured a decisive 54-7 victory over the Laurel Highlands Mustangs in a non-conference football game on Friday at Russ Grimm Stadium. The Scotties’ defense scored early and late in the game, while the offense contributed six touchdowns in between.

Both teams entered Friday’s contest with undefeated records of two wins and no losses. However, Southmoreland took control early, highlighted by running back Averyon Darnell’s 13-yard touchdown run in the first quarter as he maintained his balance against two defenders from Laurel Highlands.

Laurel Highlands was unable to match Southmoreland’s performance on either side of the ball, as the Scotties continued to pull away throughout the remainder of the game. The match marked an impressive showing for Southmoreland at home.
