Marv Levy, former head coach of the Buffalo Bills and Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee, was the subject of recent social media rumors claiming he had died. These posts spread quickly online, leading to confusion among fans and a number of tributes appearing on various platforms.
Levy recently celebrated his 100th birthday at the start of the month. Posts suggesting his passing began circulating soon after, being shared widely by users on Facebook and other sites. The situation escalated when individuals began posting photos from Levy’s coaching days in Orchard Park, New York.
A radio station received a call from an individual who reported that Levy had died. After reviewing available information and researching the claims, staff found no evidence supporting them. The report clarified: “No, he did not. These Facebook posts that been circulating and shared are either AI written or just plain made up. It is insane what the internet can do, but it is also a little scary the fake accounts that people believe and are willing to reshare. Be careful as to what you are sharing.”
In addition to addressing the false reports about Levy, the article noted that the Buffalo Bills are preparing for a new stadium and discussed possible roster changes involving player Gabe Davis.
The spread of misinformation regarding public figures remains a concern as digital platforms make it easier for unverified reports to gain traction.
