Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has shared strong praise for new wide receiver DK Metcalf, drawing a direct comparison to Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Terrell Owens. Roethlisberger observed Metcalf’s performance during a recent practice in Pittsburgh and later discussed his impressions on his podcast.

“If you want some encouragement, here it comes — if you don’t need it, here comes some anyway. DK Metcalf is an absolute animal,” Roethlisberger said on “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger.” (…) “We haven’t seen a receiver like him, in terms of physical stature and being able to take over a football game, since T.O. He is an absolute animal.” The remarks were made as part of Roethlisberger’s discussion about the Steelers’ prospects and the impact Metcalf could have for the team.

Terrell Owens played eight years with the San Francisco 49ers before moving on to contribute to the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. Roethlisberger suggested that Metcalf may be capable of achieving similar influence on the field as Owens did during his career.
