Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger returned to practice in Pittsburgh last week and was notably impressed by wide receiver DK Metcalf‘s performance. Roethlisberger shared his views on his podcast, comparing Metcalf to Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Terrell Owens.

“If you want some encouragement, here it comes — if you don’t need it, here comes some anyway. DK Metcalf is an absolute animal,” Roethlisberger said on his podcast Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger. “We haven’t seen a receiver like him, in terms of physical stature and being able to take over a football game, since T.O. He is an absolute animal.”

Terrell Owens is recognized for his eight seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and also played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals.

Roethlisberger suggested that Metcalf’s skills could enable him to reach achievements similar to those of Owens.

The comments highlight the continued recognition of Owens’ influence as a Hall of Famer and set high expectations for Metcalf’s future performance.
