A report from the Kansas City Star states that a bullet was fired into Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s office at the team’s practice facility last spring while he was present. According to the report, citing multiple sources, Reid was working alone in his office in early May 2024 when a bullet fired from outside entered through the glass window, continued through the blinds, and lodged in a wall between his bathroom and office door. Bulletproof glass was installed at the facility shortly after.
The report also noted that two additional bullets hit other parts of the building, with one striking the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few people within the organization were aware of the incident.
A spokesperson for the Chiefs declined to comment on Wednesday night.
The occurrence took place just months after Reid led the Chiefs to their second consecutive Super Bowl championship and their third title in five years. The team won another AFC title last season but lost to Philadelphia.
Reid has compiled a record of 273-146-1 during his 12 seasons with Kansas City and 14 with Philadelphia. He ranks fourth on the National Football League’s all-time wins list behind Don Shula, George Halas, and Bill Belichick.
