DeMarcus Ware was born on July 31, 1982, in Auburn, Alabama. He attended Auburn High School. There, he played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track. He was a standout athlete. In football, he played wide receiver and linebacker. He was named team MVP on both sides of the ball. He led the team in tackles and sacks. He showed early signs of dominance.
He went to Troy University on scholarship. He became a star defensive end. He earned All-Sun Belt honors twice. He helped Troy reach its first bowl game. He finished college with 27.5 sacks and 201 tackles.
In 2005, the Dallas Cowboys drafted Ware in the first round. He became an elite pass rusher. He led the team in sacks almost every year. He became Dallas’s all-time sack leader. He made seven Pro Bowls with the Cowboys.
In 2014, he joined the Denver Broncos. He helped them win Super Bowl 50. He had two sacks in that game. He played three years in Denver before retiring in 2017.
He signed a one-day contract to retire as a Cowboy. In 2023, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Dallas Cowboys selected DeMarcus Ware with the 11th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
DeMarcus Ware was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2023, his first year of eligibility.
