Darrelle Revis, recognized as one of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history, was born on this day in 1985.
Revis was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and excelled in football during his time at Aliquippa High School, where he received numerous accolades for his performance. He continued his football career at the University of Pittsburgh, leading to his selection by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
Over his 11-season career, Revis played primarily with the Jets, where he was known for his ability to shut down opposing receivers, earning the nickname “Revis Island.” He was named to seven Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLIX with the New England Patriots. In 2023, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. While his legacy is primarily associated with New York, his beginnings in Pittsburgh contribute to his storied career.
