Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss has delivered a motivational video message to the Colorado Buffaloes football team as Coach Deion Sanders prepares for his third season leading the program. The team faces a period of transition, with high-profile players such as Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders no longer on the roster following a 9-4 campaign in 2024.
Moss praised the direction of Sanders’ program in his video message. He said, “I love what you’re doing around here, coach, because this is what I stand for. (…) There is a reason I told coach I wanted to come and see this team. There is a reason all this professional football talent around here… this is a professional setting.” These words were shared ahead of Colorado’s season opener.
The timing of Moss’s involvement comes as Colorado seeks to reaffirm its identity after losing key players like Travis Hunter and seeing Shedeur Sanders move to the NFL. Moss’s statement was intended to reinforce professionalism and ambition within the team.
Moss and Sanders also share recent experiences with health challenges. At a press conference, Sanders recognized Moss’s support during his recovery from bladder cancer by saying, “Randy Moss called me every other day to make sure I was straight. Randy Moss prayed for me. He and his wife told me what I need to be doing… He gave me so much strength and so much guidance and so much love, respect and appreciation.”
Moss also recently overcame bile duct cancer himself, returning earlier this year to ESPN’s “Sunday Night Countdown” and expected back full-time for the upcoming season.
As Coach Sanders leads Colorado into an unpredictable new phase without key players from previous seasons, Moss’s endorsement serves both as motivation for current athletes and as affirmation of the program’s standards.
