The Chesapeake Sports Club held its 13th annual Jamboree on March 13, 2026, featuring Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Darrell Green as the keynote speaker.

Green, a legendary cornerback for the Washington Redskins and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, spoke to VIP guests before addressing the larger audience. During his remarks, Green emphasized values beyond his athletic accomplishments, stating, “There is a lot more to me that those items and my football career. The former cornerback values his role as a husband and father far more than anything else and looks to continue being a positive influence on a daily basis.”

The event also recognized several local honorees for their achievements over the past year. Casey Cuddyer from Great Bridge was named Male Athlete of the Year; Sophie Rambo from Grassfield received Female Athlete of the Year honors; Patrick Shuler, head wrestling coach for the Grizzlies, was selected as Coach of the Year; and Donn Irby, a charter member of Chesapeake Sports Club, was honored as Club Member of the Year.

Each year, the Jamboree celebrates student-athletes and coaches from across Chesapeake and raises scholarship funds to help support their futures. Organizers highlight how appearances by notable figures such as Green inspire young athletes in attendance.

The Chesapeake Sports Club plans to continue this tradition in future years as it works to recognize achievement in local sports and provide opportunities for young people in the community.
