Two years after Keegan Bradley secured a victory at the Travelers Championship with a score of -23, and one year following Scottie Scheffler’s win at -22, discussions continue about the notably low scores achieved by top golfers at TPC River Highlands. Despite course modifications intended to increase difficulty, these low scores remain a point of interest.
World number one Scottie Scheffler spoke to reporters on Wednesday, acknowledging that while the course is less challenging than last week’s U.S. Open, it still presents its own set of challenges. Scheffler will be playing alongside newly crowned U.S. Open champion J.J.
Last year’s Travelers Championship was won by Scheffler in a playoff, highlighting the event’s capacity for drama.
Among those returning to play this year is Pro Football Hall of Fame member Andre Tippett, who joined ESPN’s Chris Berman and former quarterback Doug Flutie. PGA Tour legend Larry Nelson also participated in their group. Tippett expressed his appreciation for the Travelers Championship’s community efforts: “Travelers and what they do in the community is part of why I like to come down here,” he said. “I know that they do so much for the youth in the area. It’s amazing. We should have more people like that.”
Tippett kept his personal goals modest, stating, “My mission today… is to hit a good tee off the first hole. As long you see that first shot, I’m good to go, I don’t care how I play the rest of the day.”
