Michael Vick, former Virginia Tech quarterback and current Norfolk State head coach, recently shared his view on the top four college football quarterbacks. During an appearance on the Got Sole Podcast, Vick named his personal “Mount Rushmore” of college quarterbacks, placing himself among the selections.
Vick’s list features Charlie Ward, Michael Vick, Peyton Manning, and Vince Young. Ward was recognized for leading Florida State to its first national title win and becoming the school’s first Heisman Trophy winner. Manning’s decorated college career with Tennessee included the Maxwell Award and Davey O’Brien Award, and he is regarded as the greatest quarterback in Volunteer history. Young was noted for a 30-2 record as a starter at Texas and leading his team to victory in what is widely considered one of the greatest college football games ever—the 2006 Rose Bowl against USC.
Vick described his own college achievements that contributed to his selection. At Virginia Tech, he led the Hokies to a 22-2 record over two years and reached the National Championship game against Florida State. His individual honors include being named First-team All-American, Big East Offensive Player of the Year, and receiving the Archie Griffin Award.
Vick originally included Lamar Jackson on his list but replaced him with Vince Young at the last moment.
Overall, Vick’s choices reflect both statistical achievement and impact on their respective programs during their collegiate careers.
