Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has been the subject of recent trade speculation, with discussions often connecting him to the Green Bay Packers. Social media attention surrounding these rumors increased when former Packers Pro Bowler John Kuhn referenced Parsons in a post, causing some fans to speculate that Kuhn had inside information. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, while much of the talk remains conjecture, there is some basis for believing Green Bay has an interest.
“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Packers are ‘interested.’ However, the interest is ‘nowhere near the smoke that’s out there,'” Florio wrote.
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst also addressed reporters about potential trades without mentioning Parsons by name. “I can’t talk about any players on any other teams, but I think every opportunity that’s out there, if they can help the Packers, we’re going to take a long look at,” Gutekunst told reporters. “If that opportunity makes sense to us, we’ll do it. If it doesn’t, then we won’t.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has previously said he does not intend to trade Parsons. Last season, Parsons recorded 70 pressures, 44 hurries, 12 quarterback hits, 12 sacks and two forced fumbles in only 13 games. The Packers’ defense ranked eighth in sacks during the 2024 season.
Parsons would join edge-rushers Rashan Gary (47 pressures, 7.5 sacks), Kingsley Enagbare (25 pressures, 4.5 sacks), Brenton Cox Jr. (17 pressures, four sacks), and Lukas Van Ness (20 pressures, three sacks) if a trade were made. While such a move could benefit Green Bay’s defensive unit, Dallas has shown little inclination to part with their four-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher.
