Fans from both the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks filled Ray Nitschke Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Thursday for the last public practice before the teams’ preseason game. The event marked the final chance for supporters to see players participate in a long-standing tradition by riding bikes down to the field.
Spectators arrived early, with many lining up at 9:30 a.m. hoping their favorite player would choose their bike for one last ride to practice. Joshua Pritzl, a Seahawks fan from Oshkosh, said, “Oh, it was amazing, seeing them all up in front walking past, getting some pictures and some signatures, it was great.”
The joint session provided an opportunity for both teams to finalize preparations ahead of Saturday’s game. Ayden Layne, a Seahawks fan from Madison noted, “It’s really nice to see they got to participate and get involved with the community. It’s cool to see the kids’ stuff signed.”
Packers fans also looked forward to seeing several notable players take the field for preseason action. Keith Apts from Fountain City said, “Yeah, and (Sam) Darnold, MVS (Marquez Valdes-Scantling), and (Cooper) Kupp, of course. It will be exciting to see them play.”
The excitement extended to younger fans making memories during their visit. Aiden Frazier from De Pere commented,” I mean it seems pretty cool that the Packers let another team have to have some other training too.”
The Green Bay Packers are set to host the Seattle Seahawks for their final preseason game on August 23 at 3 p.m., after which roster decisions will be made ahead of their season opener against the Detroit Lions on September 7.
