Several high school football teams in Ohio demonstrated their strengths as the season began, with Northeast Ohio programs notably influencing the state rankings entering Week 2. Glenville’s overtime victory against Massillon and Walsh Jesuit ending Toledo Central Catholic’s 26-game winning streak were among key outcomes.

In Division I, Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller leads after a commanding 41-0 win over Cincinnati Princeton and will face Chicago Mount Carmel (Illinois) next. St. Edward follows at No. 2 after defeating Pickerington North 24-0, with their next game set for Saturday against Delbarton School (New Jersey).

Other Division I highlights include Mentor’s 35-28 win over Olmsted Falls, Cincinnati St. Xavier’s narrow win over Lakota West, and Lakota West falling to fifth in the rankings after their loss.

Division II sees Archbishop Hoban atop following a win over Canal Winchester Harvest Prep. Avon holds the second spot after defeating St. Ignatius by a wide margin and is scheduled to play Spruce Creek (Florida) on Thursday. Notable movements also occurred in this division due to Walsh Jesuit’s away victory against Toledo Central Catholic.

Columbus Bishop Watterson currently ranks first in Division III, followed by Toledo Central Catholic and Wapakoneta.

Glenville sits at No. 1 in Division IV after its overtime victory at Massillon. The team prepares for an upcoming match against Olentangy Liberty.

In Division V, Ironton is first after shutting out Shelby Valley (Kentucky). Liberty Center, Findlay Liberty-Benton, Milan Edison, and Oak Harbor follow closely behind.

Kirtland stands atop Division VI following their win at Central Clarion (Pennsylvania). Other ranked teams include Coldwater and Bluffton.

Maria Stein Marion Local leads Division VII after a significant win over South Adams (Indiana), with Jeromesville Hillsdale and St. Henry next in line.

An editor’s note indicated that Manchester’s opponent in Division V was corrected for this week.

The state rankings reflect performances across all divisions as Ohio high school football enters its second week of the season.
