Friday night football games are set to begin in Northeast Ohio, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures expected for the start of the high school football season.
Weather conditions have improved after a period of cloudy skies and drizzle. High pressure moving into the area is expected to result in mostly clear skies by Friday evening. Temperatures will range from the mid-70s to around 80 degrees during most games, creating favorable conditions for both players and fans.
In Massillon, Glenville will face the Tigers at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. The forecast at the 7 p.m. kickoff time is about 80 degrees. Perry will host Madison at Alumni Stadium, with temperatures near 77 degrees predicted for game time. In Avon, where the Eagles are scheduled to play St. Ignatius at Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet Stadium, temperatures should be approximately 75 degrees under mostly clear conditions.
Winds are expected to be lighter than earlier in the week due to Hurricane Erin moving northeast. These changes, along with late-day clearing, are anticipated to make for an optimal environment for Friday night football.
Looking ahead to Saturday, a cold front is forecasted to pass through late Saturday night into Sunday, bringing cooler air. Rain chances remain low during Saturday daytime hours; however, isolated showers or storms could develop in the evening, especially across eastern sections of the region. Daytime highs on Saturday may reach into the low to mid-80s before falling back into the 70s on Sunday after the front moves through.
A few high school football games are planned for Saturday as well. While dry weather is likely during most of Saturday’s games, those starting later may encounter scattered rain.
