The National Football League has unveiled its 2025 rivalry jerseys, with the New York Jets presenting a “Gotham City” theme for their new uniforms. The design was created in partnership with Nike and features a green and black scheme intended to reflect the city’s atmosphere.
The new uniforms will be seen for the first time at several home games. The Jets plan to debut theirs on Dec. 7 against the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium. According to Nike, “Each uniform was designed in collaboration with the club it represents to authentically reflect what makes their team, fans and communities wholly unique,” as stated by Nike in an announcement about the launch.
Chris Pierce, vice president of fan commerce for the Jets, said, “The nod to the iconic NYC manhole pattern on the shoulder and in the background to the plane is uniquely our own and strong imagery that defines the toughness and work ethic of the people who call this great city home.”
Seven other teams also had their rivalry jerseys revealed: Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. Both the Dolphins and Patriots will introduce their new uniforms during games against the Jets on Sept. 29 and Nov. 13.
Fans can purchase these rivalry jerseys starting Sept. 10. Additional designs are expected over three years.
The history between the Jets and Dolphins is long-standing within National Football League circles. While neither team has won a Super Bowl since Miami’s consecutive titles in 1973-74 or New York’s lone win in 1969, they remain close rivals; Miami leads their all-time series 61-57-1. Notable past games include a high-scoring overtime contest on Sept. 21, 1986—when Jets quarterback Ken O’Brien threw for 479 yards facing Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Dan Marino—and an Oct. 23, 2000 meeting remembered as “Monday Night Miracle,” when New York overcame a large deficit.
In recent meetings, Miami has eight wins from ten games but lost last season’s finale when Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes for New York.
