Former NFL players Anthony Muñoz, DeMarcus Ware, and Morten Andersen are set to participate in the inaugural James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational at Broken Sound Club next year. The event will take place from March 31 to April 6 and will feature a unique format pairing 26 football legends with 78 PGA Tour Champions professionals.
Muñoz, who played as an offensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals for 13 seasons, was elected to 11 consecutive Pro Bowls and named All-Pro 11 times between 1981 and 1991. ESPN named him the greatest offensive tackle in NFL history in 2022.
Ware spent most of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys before finishing with the Denver Broncos. He was a first-team All-Pro four times and second-team All-Pro three times, making nine Pro Bowl appearances. The Cowboys drafted Ware as the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
Andersen, known as “The Great Dane,” was a kicker for 25 seasons, primarily with the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons. He is recognized as one of the most prolific scorers in league history, holding records such as kicking 40 field goals of over 50 yards. At retirement, he ranked second among all-time scorers in the NFL.
Ken Kennerly, Executive Director of the tournament, said: “The addition of Hall of Famers like Anthony Muñoz, DeMarcus Ware and Morten Andersen to the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational brings even more excitement and anticipation for both fans and participants alike.”
Other NFL greats committed to play include Warren Sapp, Ronde Barber, Dwight Freeney, Jimbo Covert, Andre Reed, and Calvin Johnson. The tournament will support charities such as Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County. Tickets will be available starting November.
