The New York Jets claimed three players off the National Football League waiver wire on Aug. 27, 2025: tight end Jelani Woods, offensive tackle Esa Pole, and linebacker Cam Jones. To make room for these additions, the team released wide receiver Tyler Johnson, linebacker Zaire Barnes, and offensive tackle Marquis Hayes. The organization also moved closer to filling out its 16-player practice squad by signing 14 players.

These roster changes come as the Jets prepare for their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The team’s preparation and roster adjustments mark the final phase before the start of the new season.

A report from Eric Allen and Susanna Weir titled “Jets Sign 14 Players to Practice Squad” outlines further details regarding the practice squad signings. Additional coverage was provided by Jack Bell in “Jets HC Aaron Glenn: Building a Final 53-Man Roster ‘Is Still a Fluid Process’,” which discusses comments from head coach Aaron Glenn on ongoing roster decisions.

Other related coverage includes reports on player movement after recent cutdowns, including Nick Wojton’s pieces detailing both waiver claims and player departures, as well as articles from John Flanigan, Adam Schultz, Billy Heyen, Pete Martuneac, Patrick McAvoy, Glenn Naughton, Justin Fried, John Molnar, and Benedetto Vitale.

This series of moves concludes most of the roster construction for the upcoming season with attention now shifting to game preparations.
