The new Netflix docuseries “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys” was officially released on Tuesday. The eight-part series covers the era of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, from his purchase of the franchise to the present day.
The series explores Jones’ journey in building a football dynasty and examines the team’s performance over nearly 30 years without similar Super Bowl success. Prominent former players such as Jimmy Johnson, Michael Irvin, and Troy Aikman appear in the episodes, along with other notable figures from the organization’s past and present.
Ahead of the release, The Dallas Morning News provided coverage that included exclusive content. An interview at training camp in Oxnard offered additional perspective from Jerry Jones regarding his experience both on and off camera for the production.
Related reporting highlighted how Jones shared more details about overcoming Stage 4 cancer, describing himself as fortunate to have access to experimental treatment methods.
The launch was marked by a premiere event at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles on Aug. 11. Several members of the Jones family were present at this occasion.
Coverage related to “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys” also includes behind-the-scenes insights from co-directors and commentary by sports figures discussing both nostalgic moments and current challenges facing the Dallas Cowboys organization.
The docuseries arrives as renewed attention focuses on team leadership under Jones while questions persist about returning to championship form after decades away from Super Bowl victories.
