Comedian Mo’Nique has expressed her support for Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Shannon Sharpe following the recent settlement of his $50 million rape lawsuit, which was filed by a former girlfriend. During a livestream, Mo’Nique addressed questions about the situation and publicly stood by Sharpe.

“We’ve all not walked the perfect line, we’ve all had mistakes, we’ve all taken a fall, we’ve all had to get up and get to going again,” Mo’Nique said. “So, that is my brother, and I love my brother.”

After Sharpe faced the lawsuit, previous footage surfaced online in which Mo’Nique advised him to date women closer to his own age instead of younger women. Sharpe responded at that time by saying he preferred to date women his “wage.”

Mo’Nique also drew parallels between Sharpe’s recent experiences and her own past disputes with director Tyler Perry. She stated: “I know what it feels like for people to quit on you and give up on you. That won’t be me. Shannon Sharpe? That’s Shay Shay, baby. We love him.”

She shared that she defended Sharpe during the livestream when an audience member encouraged her to criticize him. “I said, ‘B—h, no, you won’t do that. No, you will not do that. No ma’am.’ Whatever you feeling about my brother, if you ain’t got something nice to say, be quiet,” she added.

The settlement and subsequent reactions come after Sharpe’s continued public presence despite professional setbacks related to these events.
