Micah Parsons, linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, has removed all references to the team from his social media accounts as tensions continue over his contract situation. On Thursday night, Parsons changed his Twitter and Instagram bios to highlight only his Penn State affiliation and left “TBD” as his current team. He also posted a video on TikTok showing game photos of himself in a Cowboys uniform, some depicting him waving goodbye and blowing kisses. The background audio features former NBA player Allen Iverson discussing trade rumors: “Imma win wherever I go,” Iverson says. “Wherever I go, imma win. I don’t care where I go. I don’t give a damn what team I go to, imma win. Imma win regardless, it don’t matter.”
The video comes after comments made earlier by Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones regarding ongoing negotiations with Parsons over a new contract. During an interview with Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Michael Irvin on Irvin’s YouTube channel, Jones discussed the latest offer made to Parsons.
“Nobody appreciates Micah Parsons more than the Cowboys or me,” Jones said. “Nobody has ever offered him more money than I have to play football. Period.”
According to Jones, he met with Parsons earlier this year to talk about contract terms and believed they had reached an agreement in principle. However, Jones stated that when details were sent to Parsons’ agent David Mulugheta, there was no progress.
“When we wanted to send the details to the agent, the agent told us to stick it up our a–,” Jones said. “Just so you’re clear.”
It is not known exactly when Mulugheta was contacted following these discussions or whether any communication took place after Parsons publicly requested a trade on Aug. 1 amid ongoing disagreements with management.
Parsons attended training camp but did not participate in team activities during practices or preseason games. This has increased speculation that he may choose not to play this season despite being eligible for a significant pay increase in 2025.
The Cowboys selected Parsons with the No. 12 pick in the 2021 NFL draft and signed him on a four-year contract worth $17.1 million before picking up his fifth-year option at $24 million for this season—a move that would make him a free agent after its conclusion.
Jones recently commented there is no urgency regarding further talks even though the regular season opens Sept. 7 against Philadelphia.
“You don’t have a deadline when you’re playing under contract,” he said.
