Dylan Edwards, former Colorado Buffaloes running back, has entered the transfer portal again, generating discussion about a possible return to Boulder where Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Marshall Faulk is now serving as the team’s running backs coach.
Edwards was originally a significant part of Deion Sanders’ first recruiting class at Colorado in 2023 after an initial commitment to Notre Dame. His time with the Buffs included a standout performance against TCU in the 2023 season opener, where he set a school record for most receiving yards and touchdowns by a running back in a single game. After limited opportunities due to the team’s offensive strategy, Edwards transferred to Kansas State. There, he led Power 4 running backs in average yards per carry (5.74) during the 2024 season and earned Offensive MVP honors in the Rate Bowl before an ankle problem led him to redshirt for much of the next year.
The latest move puts Edwards back into consideration for several programs. Speculation regarding his potential return to Colorado grew quickly after wide receiver Omarion Miller posted an otter emoji when sharing news of Edwards entering the portal. Both Miller and Edwards had been part of Sanders’ first group of recruits at Colorado. According to some fans online, only those close to Colorado “know what his true skill is,” reflecting ongoing support from that community.
A new aspect this time is Marshall Faulk’s involvement as running backs coach for Colorado. The Hall of Famer’s presence brings professional experience that could benefit a player like Edwards. As stated: “Faulk’s experience and knowledge could be invaluable for Edwards, providing him with the tools and insights needed to elevate his game.”
While hopes are high among supporters for Edwards’ return under Sanders and alongside Faulk, no decisions have been confirmed. Whether or not he rejoins Colorado, his next steps remain closely watched throughout college football circles.
The coming weeks will likely bring more clarity on whether Dylan Edwards chooses Boulder once again as his home field.
