Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed is gearing up for the 2025 season with newfound confidence after an offseason learning experience with Peyton Manning. Reed attended the Manning Passing Academy, where he learned valuable insights from the Hall of Fame quarterback.
“Peyton (Manning) really talked about watching film and how he did it, different things he would look at,” Reed shared during SEC Media Days. “That’s something I’m going to take into 2025, for sure.”
Reed stepped up as Texas A&M’s starting quarterback last season following Conner Weigman’s injury. He led the team to several victories and ended the year with impressive stats: 1,864 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, six interceptions, and 547 rushing yards with seven touchdowns.
Reed credits his growth in passing to his offseason work and support from new teammates. “We’ve had some great receivers come in… It feels very good,” he said.
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko praised the Manning Academy as a vital opportunity for quarterbacks. “The Manning Academy is something you want your quarterback at,” Elko said.
Reed’s efforts have not gone unnoticed; he was named to the Maxwell Award watchlist on Monday. Texas A&M will kick off their season against UTSA on August 30, airing on ESPN.
Peyton Manning’s illustrious career includes throwing for 71,940 yards and 539 touchdowns, earning five NFL MVP awards.
