North Carolina offensive lineman Chad Lindberg has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List. The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who is either from a Texas high school or currently plays at a four-year college in Texas.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award also acknowledges players who demonstrate qualities associated with Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Earl Campbell, including integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community involvement and tenacity—particularly in overcoming adversity and injury to achieve goals.
Lindberg is a graduate transfer from Rice University. Last season he started 11 games for the Owls, playing seven at left guard and four at left tackle.
The Watch List will be reduced to up to 16 semifinalists in November, then up to five finalists in December. Selections are made by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans and past winners. The recipient will be announced in December and honored at The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for Jan. 21, 2026 in Tyler.
The award was created in 2012 by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler.
Earl Campbell graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas before joining the Texas Longhorns under Coach Darrell K. Royal. As a senior he led the nation with 1,744 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns and won the Longhorns’ first Heisman Trophy.
