Peyton Manning was born on March 24, 1976, in New Orleans. His father, Archie Manning, was quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Peyton grew up in the city and lived with his family. He attended Isidore Newman School.
He played quarterback for his high school team. He became a top prospect by the time he graduated. He chose to attend the University of Tennessee. He played there from 1994 to 1997.
He entered the NFL in 1998. He was selected first overall by the Indianapolis Colts. He played for the Colts until 2011. He joined the Denver Broncos in 2012 and played four more seasons.
Manning won two Super Bowls and was named league MVP five times. He retired in 2016. He holds many passing records. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
New Orleans was his home growing up. His early life and football years began there.
Peyton Manning threw for 71,940 passing yards and 539 passing touchdowns and was selected to 14 Pro Bowls throughout his Hall of Fame career as a quarterback.
The Indianapolis Colts selected Peyton Manning with the first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft.
