Jim Kelly, Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee and former Buffalo Bills quarterback, has expressed his gratitude to fans for their support following his grandson Beau’s recent health challenges.
Beau, the first child of Kelly’s daughter Erin and her husband Parker, was born at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, New York. He faced “unexpected medical complications” shortly after birth and spent nearly 40 days in the hospital before returning home. According to Kelly, Beau underwent a successful procedure during his hospital stay.
Kelly posted an update on Instagram thanking those who supported his family during this period. In his statement, he said: “There are so many people to thank. (…) So many who stepped into this hard space with us. So many who prayed, and prayed, and prayed. To our friends who brought yummy homemade food and sent Jelly Cats and Door Dash and sourdough bread and cookies and more…you know and WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!”
He continued by acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved: “We also want to thank everyone who fervently prayed. Family, friends, strangers who stood in the gap for us when we were too weary to stand on our own. (…) Your prayers carried us. Your messages, encouragement, and your faith reminded us that we were not alone. You loved us in our brokenness and we will never forget it. To all of the above…We won’t ever forget the kindness, the care, the grace, and the patience shown to our entire family. You carried us in ways you may not realize, and we are forever grateful.”
Kelly concluded with further appreciation: “Because of you, we saw glimpses of God’s love in action and witnessed his faithfulness in unexpected ways. With as much gratitude as we can pour out…THANK YOUUU! We thank God for all of you!”
Kelly played professional football as a quarterback for the Houston Gamblers from 1984 to 1985 before joining the Buffalo Bills between 1986 and 1996. He was named to five Pro Bowl teams—including three consecutive appearances from 1990 through 1992—and is honored on the Bills Wall of Fame with his No. 12 jersey retired.
