Jim Kelly, a former quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, is seeking prayers from fans due to his newborn grandson’s health issues. The baby, born last week, is facing “unexpected medical conditions,” as said by the Bills last Thursday. On Monday, Kelly shared this statement on Instagram and expressed his family’s distress: “We never imagined we would be here in this place of heartbreak and suffering again. Please pray for our daughter Erin, her husband Parker, and their precious newborn baby boy.”

Kelly’s family has faced similar challenges before; his late son Hunter’s condition led to the creation of Hunter’s Hope Foundation, which focuses on Krabbe Leukodystrophy research and awareness. In his post, Kelly thanked supporters: “We’ve felt your support and prayers through some of the darkest days of our lives — and we’ll never be able to thank you enough.” He continued, “Your kindness towards our family and your prayers have reminded us that we’re not alone…Well, we need your prayers again.”

The Instagram post included Bible verses Isaiah 46:4 and Isaiah 43:2. It received widespread support from fans and NFL figures like Thurman Thomas, David Nelson, and Harrison Phillips. Kelly concluded with gratitude: “Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for praying,” he wrote. “We need it more than ever.”

Jim Kelly is known for leading the Bills to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances between 1991-94 during his 11-season career in Buffalo.
