Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Jim Kelly recently shared his appreciation for the support his family received during his 5-month-old grandson Beau Hunter Bean’s hospitalization. Beau, the son of Erin and Parker Bean, was discharged from the hospital after a 38-day stay due to medical complications.

Kelly turned to social media to thank friends, family, and the medical team at Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center for their help throughout this difficult time. In his note, he wrote: “You listened to our countless questions and answered them with patience, grace, and compassion. You cared not only for Beau, but for all of us (…) Your smile, your questions about how we were doing, and your willingness to help meant more than you will ever know.’ You loved us in our brokenness, and we will never forget it,” according to Kelly. The family also acknowledged Albert, a staff member at the hospital’s front desk: “You have no idea the kind of impact you had on all of us.”

Kelly further extended thanks to supporters outside their immediate circle. He stated: “Words are simply not enough to express how my heart is today,” while remembering his deceased son on his 20th death anniversary (…) So many things going in and out of my mind, especially this last month. I can only reach out and ask people for prayers,” as posted on Instagram by Kelly.

With Beau back home now but continuing his recovery process, Kelly asked fans for continued prayers and support as the infant still requires ongoing care.

Kelly’s reflections also touched upon past personal loss; he noted that he continues to cope with grief following the death of his son Hunter in 2005 due to Krabbe disease.

The family said they remain grateful as they work through both relief at Beau’s release from hospital and concern for ongoing health needs.
