Jim Kelly, the former Buffalo Bills quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee, announced that his newborn grandson is home after spending 38 days in the hospital due to “unexpected medical complications.” Kelly shared this update on social media over the weekend alongside his wife, Jill Kelly.

“THE BEST UPDATE: Erin and Parker said it best…Home (…)” said Jim Kelly and Jill Kelly in a joint post, resharing their daughter Erin and son-in-law Parker’s words. “After 38 days in the Pediatric Cardiac Care Center, we’re finally home. (…) We are overwhelmed with gratitude and praising Jesus for every little miracle and answered prayer along the way. We cannot thank you enough for praying for Beau and our family. (…) His heart still has a lot of healing ahead, so prayer doesn’t stop here. Believing for more healing each day. One day at a time. We can’t wait to share more of his incredible life with you.” This message was posted publicly following their grandson’s release from pediatric care.

A few days before the latest update, Jim and Jill Kelly announced their grandson’s name through another statement on Instagram: “If you follow our daughter, Erin and her husband, Parker, you saw this beautiful picture and now know our grandson’s name…BEAU HUNTER BEAN (…)” they wrote. “Although he will always be ‘Little Bean’ to us.”

The family previously kept details about the baby’s medical status private but acknowledged both their joy at becoming grandparents and the challenges Beau faced after birth. In July, Jim Kelly posted a statement explaining that his daughter Erin had given birth to her first child with husband Parker but that complications arose unexpectedly.

At that time, they said further information would not be released publicly as they relied on “faith in God, the strength of their love and the unwavering support of those closest to them” to manage through a difficult period.

Before Beau returned home, another update detailed an upcoming procedure for him: “Little Brave Bean’s procedure is scheduled for 7am tomorrow morning,” Jim Kelly wrote in a joint post with his wife. “He is so strong and courageous. And his life has already changed our lives forever. (…) Erin and Parker have asked that we do not share his most beautiful name yet with the public, because they still want to announce him to the world. And especially to those of you who have been praying fervently for our miracle Bean.”

The couple expressed empathy toward others facing difficult circumstances: “We just want you to know that we’re sharing this because we want to remind you too, that YOU ARE NOT ALONE,” they concluded at that time.

The announcement marks a positive development for Kelly’s family following weeks of uncertainty regarding Beau’s health.
