PennLive has unveiled its All-Pennsylvania All-Time Football Team, focusing on the defensive side of the game. The selection highlights players either born in Pennsylvania or who played high school football in the state and are considered legendary.
Among those chosen is Jason Taylor, a standout defensive lineman. Taylor, originally from Pittsburgh, made his mark at Woodland Hills before playing college football at Akron. His professional career began when he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1997 as a third-round pick. Taylor’s NFL journey also included stints with the Washington Redskins and New York Jets.
Taylor’s accolades include six Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors. In 2006, he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year and twice recognized as AFC Defensive Player of the Year. He led the league in sacks in 2002 and concluded his career with 775 tackles, 139.5 sacks, eight interceptions, and nine touchdowns.
Taylor’s impressive career spanned 233 games over 15 seasons as a defensive end and outside linebacker. His achievements were recognized with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017 during his first year of eligibility.
