Jaden Nixon named to watch list honoring Hall of Famer Earl Campbell

Running back Jaden Nixon has been named to the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List. The award is presented each year to the top offensive player in the nation with Texas ties who embodies the qualities associated with Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Earl Campbell, including integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, community involvement and tenacity.

Nixon is from Las Colinas, Texas and graduated from Lone Star High School. He fits the award’s criteria due to his Texas roots and has also gained national attention for his achievements on and off the football field.

During the 2024 season, Nixon earned All-MAC First Team honors after running for 921 yards on 143 carries. He also added 77 receiving yards and scored 12 touchdowns over 13 games. His season highlights included a career-high 189-yard game against Bethune-Cookman and a notable 92-yard run at Kent State.

This preseason, Nixon has received multiple accolades. He has been placed on watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Paul Hornung Award, and Doak Walker Award. Additionally, Phil Steele named him to the Preseason Big 12 Second Team.

Finalists for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award will be announced in December and the winner is set to be revealed in January 2026.
