High school football features NFL family connections on national TV

Five high school football games are set to be shown on national television this Friday and Saturday, with several connections to former and current National Football League players. Carson Palmer, a former standout at Santa Margarita High School before his career at the University of Southern California and in the National Football League, will make his coaching debut for his alma mater. Santa Margarita enters its home game as a four-point underdog.

Jett Harrison, son of Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Marvin Harrison, is scheduled to play Friday night for St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. He is listed among the top high school players nationally and has received offers from Ohio State and other programs.

Chris Henry Jr., another highly ranked wide receiver, plays for Mater Dei High School, currently recognized as the No. 1 team in the country. Mater Dei is favored by nineteen and a half points against St. Thomas Aquinas.

Jonah Winston, younger brother of Jameis Winston, is also highlighted this week. He plays wide receiver for Hoover High School in Birmingham; Hoover is considered a twenty-one-and-a-half-point underdog versus IMG Academy on ESPN2 Friday night. Jonah Winston has offers from Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Colorado.

Saturday, August 23:

– ESPN2 at 8 p.m.: St Frances Academy (Maryland) -4.5 vs Chaminade-Madonna (Florida) +4.5 (Over/Under 50.5)
– ESPN at 10:30 p.m.: Folsom (California) -8.5 vs Grant Union (California) +8.5 (Over/Under 55.5)
