Gracie Hunt, daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and granddaughter of Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Lamar Hunt, recently spoke about her relationship with Derek Green. Green is the son of former Chiefs quarterback Trent Green. The two families have longstanding ties to the organization.
“Derek and I have known each other our whole lives,” Hunt told People magazine. “We would actually play together as babies during the Chiefs’ Christmas parties every year, and then we reconnected as adults in 2017 and met on the sidelines pregame (…) We reconnected in early March and have been inseparable ever since.”
The Dallas-based Hunt spent time off traveling in Europe before the start of the regular football season. Despite her travels, she said, “I don’t really ever truly stop thinking about football (…) In its absence, the heart does grow fonder.”
Hunt added, “Obviously, everyone in the offices in Kansas City never stops thinking about football (…) Football is just ingrained into everyone’s mental space, and we all look forward to the season’s start.” She noted that “the vibes are immaculate” for her family ahead of kickoff, saying “the Chiefs kingdom (is) growing to become the world’s team.”
As a prominent public representative of the franchise at games, Hunt shared her excitement for the coming season: “to see the team continue to grow and compete at a high level (… ) We all just can’t wait to experience another thrilling season with the Chiefs and their incredible fans.”
The Chiefs begin their regular season on Sept. 5 in Sao Paulo, Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers. Their first home game at Arrowhead Stadium will be on Sept. 14 when they face last year’s Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
