Gracie Hunt, daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and granddaughter of Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Lamar Hunt, spoke about her personal and professional experiences during the National Football League offseason.
In an interview with People, Hunt described reconnecting with Derek Green, son of former Chiefs quarterback Trent Green. “Derek and I have known each other our whole lives,” Hunt said. “We would actually play together as babies during the Chiefs’ Christmas parties every year, and then we reconnected as adults in 2017 and met on the sidelines pregame. We reconnected in early March and have been inseparable ever since.”
Hunt used the break from football to travel internationally. While based in Dallas, she said she traveled to Europe during the summer months. She also discussed interactions with Kansas City Chiefs fans abroad, noting their stories reflected broader interest in the team outside the United States.
“The Chiefs Kingdom is becoming the world’s team,” she said.
Besides travel and her relationship with Green, Hunt noted that her offseason was spent focusing on faith, family, business opportunities, and time outdoors. “Every offseason, my goal is to grow my faith, spend quality time with my family and friends, explore new business opportunities, and spend time in nature to recharge,” she said. “That way, I’m ready to give my best in the upcoming season.”
As preparations continue for Kansas City’s opening game against Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5 at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil—the official kickoff for their 2025-26 campaign—Hunt said football remains a constant priority.
“I don’t really ever truly stop thinking about football,” Hunt added. “In its absence, the heart does grow fonder… and obviously everyone in the offices in Kansas City never stops thinking about football.”
She noted that there is renewed focus within the organization ahead of a new season: “Everyone has really focused on growing themselves as individuals and doing the best in whatever space of work we need to accomplish (…)”What I’m most excited about for the Chiefs’ upcoming season is the chance to see the team continue to grow and compete at a high level.””
Hunt remains active as a public representative for Kansas City’s franchise.
Earlier this month she addressed recent marketing campaigns by sharing an image on social media referencing denim fashion trends amid ongoing public conversations concerning other brands’ advertising approaches.
The new National Football League season begins officially on Sept. 4.
