Parents and guardians in North Iowa will have access to resources on keeping children safe online at a free presentation scheduled for Monday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. The event will take place in the North Iowa School Auditorium.

The presentation, titled “How to Keep Our Kids Safe Online,” is organized by the Winnebago County Attorney’s Office with support from the North Iowa Community School District. It aims to address challenges families face as children spend more time on digital platforms.

Topics planned for discussion include online crimes, awareness of social media and gaming applications, safe online alternatives, sextortion, and advice on handling child disclosures.

The session is designed for parents and guardians of students ranging from preschool through twelfth grade. Organizers specify that the material is not suitable for children.

To support families attending, school-aged children can remain supervised in the cafeteria during the presentation.

The event reflects ongoing efforts by local officials to prevent online crimes against youth.
