ESPN College GameDay discussed the outlook for Bill Belichick and the University of North Carolina football team for the 2025 season. Panelist Dave Clawson remarked on what he sees as a turning point for the program under its new leadership.

“I view this as North Carolina’s all-in moment in football,” said Dave Clawson. “I think they’ve always been viewed as a basketball school first. Bill Belichick is arguably the greatest NFL football coach ever. And, you know, I keep going back to this but, they have talent, they’re going to be well-coached, and they have an extremely favorable schedule.”

The coverage referenced Belichick’s reputation as a six-time Super Bowl–winning head coach and noted that he is considered one of the most accomplished coaches in professional football history.

Additional preseason content featured updates from North Carolina players Alex Taylor and Andrew Simpson at their pre-training camp press conference. There was also mention of running back Omarion Hampton’s standout performance during practice with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Belichick spoke with media before a Tar Heels’ preseason training session to address preparations for the upcoming season.
