Washington wide receiver Omari Evans has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list. The award is given each year to the top offensive player in the Football Bowl Subdivision who also displays the characteristics associated with Campbell, including integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity.
Evans transferred to Washington after last season at Penn State, where he played in all 16 games and made six starts. He was second among wide receivers on his team with 415 yards and led his group with five touchdowns. Over his career so far, Evans has totaled 564 yards and seven touchdowns.
Eligibility for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is limited to players who were born in Texas, attended a Texas high school or attended a junior college or university in Texas. The award honors its namesake’s legacy as the 1977 Heisman Trophy winner.
Alongside Evans’s recognition, other Washington players have been named to various preseason watch lists: Jonah Coleman and Demond Williams Jr. for the Maxwell Award; Taariq “Buddah” Al-Uqdah for the Butkus Award; Zach Durfee for the Wuerffel Trophy; Coleman again for the Doak Walker Award; Denzel Boston for the Biletnikoff Award; Decker DeGraaf for the John Mackey Award; Tacario Davis for the Bednarik Award; Jacob Manu and Logan Sagapolu for Polynesian Player of the Year; Durfee and Quentin Moore for Comeback Player of the Year.
