As a Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee and former kick returner for the Chicago Bears, Devin Hester made his mark in the National Football League with exceptional speed and agility. Now, attention is turning to his son, Dray, who has received a verbal football scholarship offer from the University of Miami while still in seventh grade.

Dray, 12, was contacted by Miami coach Mario Cristobal via FaceTime and shared the invitation on social media. He plays multiple positions—including quarterback, running back, and receiver—on his youth team in Orlando, Florida. His official scouting position is listed as “ATH,” denoting athlete.

Devin Hester also played for the University of Miami before starting his professional career. Known for returning two kicks for touchdowns as a rookie for the Bears in 2006 and finishing that season with five such scores, Hester continued to be a significant presence on special teams with seven more touchdowns in 2007. Over his career, he produced an NFL-record 20 touchdowns on returns before being enshrined into Canton last summer.

During his eleven years in the league—eight of them with the Bears—Hester’s most notable moment was returning the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown in Super Bowl XLI.

Observers note that Dray appears to have inherited both his father’s speed and ability to change direction quickly on the field.
