A women’s soccer team in Denver, supported by Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Peyton Manning, has secured $40 million through a private bond sale.
Denver Summit FC, which is part of the National Women’s Soccer League and marks the league’s 16th franchise, will use the funds to build a practice facility. The transaction was managed by Mesirow Financial Inc., a Chicago-based financial firm. According to a person familiar with the matter, this represents one of the first instances where a women’s sports organization has accessed the private placement market for such funding.
The move reflects growing interest and investment in women’s professional sports teams. The involvement of a Hall of Famer like Manning is seen as increasing visibility and attracting more attention to the team and its development efforts.
As more women’s teams seek innovative ways to fund infrastructure and growth, this approach could set an example for other organizations within the National Women’s Soccer League and beyond.
